Privacy policy

How Wagemap handles your information. The short answer: it stays on your phone.

The short version: Wagemap keeps your information on your phone. There is no account, we run no servers that hold your data, and we don't collect usage statistics or show adverts. We can't see your pay, your rota or your payslips.

Who we are

Wagemap is made by JJENGINEERING SPECIALISTS LIMITED (company number 16153913, registered in England and Wales), registered office 132 Cooks Close, Bradley Stoke, Bristol, BS32 0BB. In this policy "we" and "us" mean that company. You can contact us at support@wagemap.co.uk.

What stays on your phone

To work out your pay, you give Wagemap information such as your job name, pay rate, rota and shifts, pay rules, tax code, National Insurance letter, student loan plan, pension rates, holiday and sickness, and payslip figures. All of it is stored in the app's own storage on your phone and used only to calculate your pay on your phone. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Payslip scanning

If you choose a screenshot or photograph a payslip, the image is read by text recognition built into your phone. The image and its text are not uploaded. Wagemap keeps the figures you confirm, not the picture.

Camera, photos, notifications and Face ID

  • Camera and photos: used only when you choose to photograph or pick a payslip.
  • Notifications: reminders (such as payday) are scheduled on your phone. No notification service of ours is involved.
  • Face ID, Touch ID or passcode: if you turn on app lock, your phone checks you. Wagemap is only told whether it succeeded and never receives your face, fingerprint or passcode.

You can turn any of these off in your phone's settings.

Backups and exports

Wagemap can make a backup file encrypted with a password you choose, and export your shifts and pay as a spreadsheet file. You decide where these go (for example iCloud Drive, Google Drive, email or Files). When you save a file to one of those services, that service's own privacy terms apply. We never see your backup password and can't open your backups.

Subscriptions

Wagemap Pro is bought through the Apple App Store (and later Google Play). Apple or Google takes the payment and handles your payment details under their own privacy policies. The app receives a signed record that you have an active subscription, checked on your phone. We don't receive your name, email address or card details.

What we collect

Nothing from the app itself. Apple and Google give app makers anonymous, combined figures such as numbers of downloads and, if you've agreed to share analytics with them, crash reports. These don't identify you and come from Apple's and Google's own systems under their terms.

If you email us, we use your email address and what you write only to reply and help you, and we keep the conversation for up to two years, unless it relates to a legal claim.

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. Our host, Cloudflare, processes the technical details any website receives (such as your IP address) to deliver pages and protect against attacks.

Our legal basis

Because the app's information stays on your phone, we don't process it. For support emails, our basis under UK data protection law is our legitimate interest in answering you.

Keeping or deleting your information

Your information stays on your phone until you delete it. You can remove individual entries in the app, erase everything with Settings → Start over, or delete the app. Backup files you have saved elsewhere are yours to delete.

Children

Wagemap is for working adults and isn't intended for children under 16.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights to access, correct and delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to how we use it. As we hold none from the app, this usually means support emails. Contact us at support@wagemap.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If Wagemap starts handling information differently, we'll update this policy and the date above before the change, and tell you in the app if it matters.
